I began to draw constantly as soon as I was old enough to hold a pencil. As a teenager, I purchased my first oil paints with money I had saved from babysitting. My only instruction had been to read books on art technique and necessary supplies. I simply began to paint in oils on my own and it came very naturally for me. I had painted in watercolor previously and had also experimented with some pen and ink work, but when I began to use oil paints I knew I had found my perfect medium. Today I work primarily in both oil and acrylic.
I am inspired to paint by beauty, color, and light. I sometimes exaggerate color for effect, but I am not a true "colorist". I paint realistic renditions of a variety of subject matter. Along the way, my work has won awards in both local and national competitions. I am a member of Oil Painters Of America.
